So, here we are in mid winter. The Earth Mother is resting and she has allowed her energy to sink itself inward; into her depth, just below the surface of everything that we see. It is quiet, and she is reserved right now, and that is just the way winter has been since the beginning of time. Soon, she will begin to awaken, refreshed, and release herself back into the wild where she can easily be sensed. It isn't hard to feel disconnected from nature this time of year. Especially as we find ourselves also retreating into our own shelters and spaces but today we were searching for ways to still stay connected to Mother Nature. So, as I said before, here we are...
We found ourselves outside collecting twigs from the trees. There isn't much of anything else. There aren't many leaves, flowers or seeds to collect at this time of year, but there were plenty of twigs! Noticing this, we decided to gather some of these twigs and look closely at them. None of the twigs appear to be perfect and none of them look the same, and I am inspired by this because this just the way I like my art; I can't stand uniform things or straight lines -- which is how we tend to define perfection these days, well some do, I certainly don't. These twigs are perfect to me! So, we create and add more chaos to Mother Earth's perfect remains. And suddenly we have a beautiful natural center-piece and this seems to repair the loss of connection some of us (mostly me) might have been feelings.
